Whether at your day job, trapped in a conference room faced with hours of discussion, or at a boring party you really weren’t in the mood to attend, there’s always a way to spice up your time.
Look around at your fellow humanity. Start figuring out what would happen in a zombie apocalypse with these people. Who would take charge? Who would fall prey and turn into zombies? Who has pertinent skills for the survival of the group? and are you one of the survivors?
When the creator of the live action role playing game, Shelter in Place, contacted me and asked me to contribute to the sister anthology, I jumped at the chance.
I walked the streets of seattle, playing my own little zombia apocalypse game. The result? The short story, Remember My Name.
Gimme Shelter
The zombie apocalypse is here. This is what happens next.
Zombies walk the earth as a father finds food for his daughter in the wasteland. A gun travels from hand to hand. Teenagers make out in a barn while zombies rise outside, and a woman deals with the most important third-date question. Stories of suspense, horror, adventure, and romance meet in this anthology of short fiction.
Gimme Shelter features all-new fiction from Filamena Young, Jared Axelrod, PJ Schnyder, Christiana Ellis, Peter Woodworth, Tee Morris, Mur Lafferty, Rob Wieland, David A. Hill Jr., Phillipa Ballentine, Chuck Wendig, and J.R. Blackwell. The fiction in Gimme Shelter was inspired by the live-action game, Shelter in Place.

Born and raised in the North East, PJ Schnyder spent her childhood pretending to study for the SATs by reading every fantasy and sci-fi novel she could borrow from the local and school libraries. She scored fairly high in the verbal portion.
She was introduced to the wonderful world of romance a decade later by her best friend at an anime convention in Seattle.
She now lives somewhere temperate watching the seasons go by with her two dogs and super stealthy ninja kitty, writing her stories.
I am a filthy-mouthed 29-year-old full time mommy/wife/student, bookaholic, Twitter addict, & self-described tomboy-princess. I am never without at least one book (I usually have two... sometimes more), and I will be happy to tell you ALL about whichever book(s) I happen to be reading at the moment. :)
I would definitely grab a weapon that is quiet and you don't have to worry about running out of bullets/shells. A Machete or and ax would do for me. bluesun1218@yahoo.com
I play this game too much as it is. Of course I started out a game of All Flesh Must Be Eaten (zombie survival RPG) at the local Starbucks and the group held up at the game store nearby.
My kit doesn't include the shotgun most people would take. Assuming you're collecting up your "kit" before the outbreak and therefore not looting the gear, shotgun shells are expensive, where the 7.62 rounds for my SKS are cheap (especially in bulk). Not to mention many of the older SKS rifles sold come with a bayonet on it already. Just needs sharpening. So, in short, a buck a shot for the shotgun or a dime a shot for the SKS – not to mention better range and accuracy.
This sounds like a great book! Will have to add it to my "to read" list.
